This trick has been up the producers sleeves for years now, but recently another movement has gained traction to counter this planned obselence! This movement is called the RIGHT TO REPAIR movement!

The Right-to-Repair Movement is to make the consumers and lawmakers are fighting back through ScienceDirect Topics on Planned Obsolescence and advocacy for laws that mandate replaceable parts, repair manuals, and longer product transparency!

There are many methods to combat planned obsolescence by choosing durable hardware, supporting the Right to Repair movement, and maintaining or repurposing older items instead of buying new ones.

You can invest in modular hardware like Fairphone for smartphones or Framework for laptops, which let you swap out individual parts with a standard screwdriver!

We must also research material quality and opt for long-lasting materials such as solid wood, metal, and natural textiles like wool or hemp over cheap plastics and fast-fashion synthetics.

Another way is to buy second-hand or refurbished products and give them equal respect!

Every person who owns any device must learn the basics of repair and maintenance.

We must learn basic fixes like replacing degraded items like phone batteries or fix torn seams using free guides from platforms like iFixit!

Apparently there are are places called the “repair cafés” where volunteer experts help fix household appliances, electronics, and clothing for free or at less price!

Nothing can of course replace good protection!

For phones you must use sturdy phone cases, screen protectors, and perform regular digital cleanups by backing up files and removing unused apps to keep operating systems fast!

Many computer geeks also use ‘light’ softwares and components to beat the BIG GUYS! LIke Lightweight operating systems like Linux Mint on older PCs to bypass dropping support from major software companies!

A general knowledge on which software updates to take so that your device will not become slow is also useful!

Most importantly before you buy any device, make sure it has a repair center nearby or within reach!

Then again only some things can be repaired…some need to be replaced…
No one can replace the fine acting skills of Himani Bhatt Shivpuri though!

Hope none of your electronic stuff needs repairing…
Shubh ratri…
