Rot a lot!

You know what is brain rot?  Also do you know what is the link rot!?

Both of them end in rot but they are not the same!

Then again if you think about it, they may be close to each other!

Now even link rot is something which is online but a little different… You also have something called a reference rot!

One thing is clear! There are a lot of ROTS online!

So brain rot is a perceived loss of intelligence or critical thinking skills, especially on account of the overconsumption of unchallenging or frivolous content posted online!

In fact excessive social media use can lead to brain rot! Too much reels can ‘reel’ in your brain!

Then you have Link Rot!

Link rot, also known as reference rot or link death, is the phenomenon where hyperlinks become broken, obsolete, or lead to different content over time, often resulting in 404 “page not found” errors.

It significantly impacts research, web, and legal credibility, with studies showing that up to 50% of U.S. Supreme Court opinions and 70% of legal journal links suffer from this issue!

In fact over 25% of all web pages that existed between 2013 and 2023 were inaccessible by late 2023! In fact nearly 54% of Wikipedia pages have at least one broken reference!

Then you have something called the content drift or Reference rot!

While link rot implies the destination is gone, “content drift” (or reference rot) occurs when the link still works, but the content has changed, making it irrelevant or inaccurate to the original citation!

So if it’s online then Rot is near!

Then again if you just want simple fun just watch some Jaspal Bhatti’s comedy!

Clean and intelligent humour!

Now stop all Rots by turning off your phone!

Subh ratri!
