Did you know what is DID!
Even if you did know, did you know that DID in a person was the inspiration of one of Robert Louis Stevenson’s most famous novels and is a big reveal in Dan Brown’s latest one!
Also do you know Louis Vivet?
Now do not go from being a calm rational person to an angry one! That is one of the clues by the way!
DID is Dissociative identity disorder (DID) which is a mental health condition where you have two or more separate personalities that control your behavior at different times!
One of the very first case was a strange case of Louis Vivet!
Louis Vivet was one of the first people to be diagnosed with DID. He was born on February 12, 1863; mothered by a prostitute who neglected poor Vivet, he was already into crime at the young age of 8.
Vivet was arrested several times and lived in a correction house until age 18.
His multiple personalities didn’t emerge until an incident when he was working at a vineyard. A viper wrapped itself around his hand — the snake didn’t bite him, but it caused him a great deal of fear and distress. He had convulsions, and became paralyzed from the waist down!
About a year and a half into his paralysis, after a prolonged and violent episode, Vivet suddenly regained the ability to walk!
However, he acted as a completely different person. He didn’t recognize the hospital staff who had been treating him or the period of his paralysis. His mannerisms, appetite, and moral disposition were completely different from his pre-paralysis self.
Over the next few years, Vivet experienced numerous dramatic shifts in his personality. His character would fluctuate between an impulsive and dangerous persona to having a calm and gentle state to a quarrelsome, thieving persona!
The most important aspect here was the memory loss in between the changes! Each time Vivet’s personality changed, he would have amnesia for the interval during which his other personality state had been in control. He was eventually recorded as having as many as 10 distinct personality states, each with different memories, character traits, and even physical symptoms!
In most of these cases you would have a dominant personality and the original personality; most of the times they may not even know the presence of the other! This of course simply proves that your brain is one of the most powerful things in the universe!
Another powerful thing is the power of music! Which reminds me of Abhijeet Bhattacharya!
Now hope all your identities want to sleep!
Shubh ratri!
