No spoilers since it’s a recap of Ithihasa
Rating 3/5
Another book on Chanakya which reminds me of the biography of Leonardo Da Vinci by Walter Isaacson. Of course that was a classic rendition of what would have happened including the finer details of day to day life of the genius! With amazing details and language!
In this book the depiction is more simpler but the view point and the retelling has been made so detailed that it is praiseworthy!
Everyone knows the broad story of CHANAKYA but that short story has been extended and elaborated to the screenplay of a soap!
So starting from the obvious fact that CHANAKYA was an intelligent and brave pundit to how he enthralls everyone with his intellect is the crux of the story!
Then you have the other hero in CHANAKYA which is the King Chandragupta who has been shown to be brave and cunning! And who could hold on his own!
This is only the first book so this acts like an introduction to characters only.
Two very scary characters have been introduced and I am thinking that maybe the writer has been influenced by Game of thrones!
So while the prime minister called the Maha Amatya Rakshasa is like Patir Baelish, the other very dark and frankly disturbing character is the young prince who reminds me of Joeffery Baratheon!
Both equally cruel and wicked and frankly sick to the core! The description of gore is a recent very disturbing trend but I guess maybe that’s closer to the truth!
So you have a brief introduction and description of characters and at the end of the first book they have met each other and round one is done!
Since I knew this is Trilogy the end was expected! I would now wait for both the books and then start the second one!
Already we have Amish’s Ramayana series in book three and to be continued! Then we have Patala prophecies in the same state! Add William Warwick series when I was just glad that the Clifton Chronicles came to an end!
The wait for next is not something which I look forward to!
So my advice is to either wait it out and complete in one go or torture yourself in anticipation! Your choice!
